Morphology and kinematics of the Cepheus Bubble
نویسنده
چکیده
We investigate the spatial and velocity distribution of atomic hydrogen associated with the Cepheus Bubble, a giant (≈ 10◦ in angular diameter) dust ring around the Cep OB2 association. HI 21 cm data, taken from the Leiden/Dwingeloo survey, reveal HI structures in the [−14,+2] kms−1 velocity range which can be associated with prominent parts of the dust ring. In the same area the HI maps also show an expanding shell with a well-defined approaching side at VLSR = −37 kms−1 and a less well-defined receding side at VLSR ≈ −4 kms−1. The kinematics and size of this shell are best modelled by a supernova explosion, occurring in Cep OB2a at about 1.7 Myrs ago. Since the ages of several parts of the Cepheus Bubble are considerably higher than the age of the expanding shell, the supernova probably exploded in a pre-existing cavity, and its shock front might have interacted with the already existing star forming regions Sh2-140, IC 1396, and NGC 7129, leading to a new wave of star formation there.

Effect of Bubble/Droplet Morphology and Slippage on Attachment Induction Time in Deoiling Flotation Process
A modified model has been analytically developed to describe the induction time of an elliptic air bubble in contact with an elliptic hydrophobic oil droplet. The role of hydrophobicity was revealed in the slippage of liquid over the surfaces of bubble and droplet. In this condition, the analytical relationships for pressure distribution and consequently hydrodynamic resistance force through th...
متن کاملMolecular Hydrogen Kinematics in Cepheus A
We present the radial velocity structure of the molecular hydrogen outflows associated to the star forming region Cepheus A. This structure is derived from the doppler shift of the H2 v=1–0 S(1) emission line obtained by Fabry–Pérot spectroscopy. The East and West regions of emission, called Cep A (E) and Cep A (W), show radial velocities in the range of -20 to 0 km s with respect to the molecu...
متن کاملUnveiling the Main Heating Sources in the Cepheus a Hw2 Region
We present high angular resolution PdBI images (beam of ∼0.33) of the J=27→26 line from several vibrational levels (v7=1 and v6=1) of HC3N toward Cepheus A HW2. These images reveal the two main heating sources in the cluster: one centered in the disk collimating the HW2 radio jet (the HW2 disk), and the other associated with a hot core 0.3 northeast HW2 (the HC). This is the first time that vib...
متن کاملCS observations of the hotspot at the S 155/Cepheus B interface
We have used the IRAM 30-m telescope to map, in the J=2–1, J=3–2 and J=5–4 rotational transitions of CS, the molecular hotspot located south-east of the Cepheus OB3 association, at the interface that divides the S 155 diffuse Hii region from the Cepheus B molecular cloud. We have also used the FCRAO 13.7-m telescope to map the larger scale CS(2– 1) emission. The ' 1′ × 1′ segment that has been ...
متن کاملExpansion of the R4 H2o Maser Arc near Cepheus a Hw2
We present new (April 2000) MERLIN observations of the H2O masers located near the protostar Cepheus A HW2. The MERLIN observations detect many of the structures found in earlier (1996) VLBA observations of Torrelles and collaborators, and the changed positions of these structures are compatible with the VLBA proper motions and astrometric uncertainties. The radius of curvature of the R4 struct...
